Working with the people of Ethiopia to tackle poverty through better management of their environment and Value Chain Development
For over 20 years SOS Sahel Ethiopia has ensured a better future for smallholder farmers and pastoralists.
As a result, we are one amongst the leading environmental and rural livelihoods focused NGOs currently working in three major regions of Ethiopia: Amhara, Oromia and the Southern Nations and Nationalities People's Region (SNNPR).
SOS Sahel Ethiopia's approach to the challenges faced by farmers and pastoralists consists of three major pillars:
- Innovative Interventions: we implement innovative field interventions with the participation of all relevant actors
- Action Research: we document and distribute field level evidence and community good practices
- Networking and Policy Influencing: we are members of the Sahelian Alliance of organizations specializing in arid and semi-arid areas.
We strive to empower and assist local community-based organizations in selling their quality produce at economically rewarding prices, and we lobby for policy changes designed to lift traditionally marginalized farmers and pastoralists out of poverty.
Thanks to our donors, SOS Sahel Ethiopia continues to progress towards a world without poverty.
